ACADEMIC RIGOR, REAL CONTEXT,
PUERTO RICAN ROOTS
The ED Council is the first postsecondary accrediting agency founded in Puerto Rico. We are not a continental model adapted for the Caribbean. We are an organization built from within, with direct knowledge of the regulatory landscape, operational realities, and aspirations of the institutions we serve. Our mission is to partner with postsecondary institutions through a systematic, transparent, and relevant accreditation process that delivers reliable support, mutual accountability, and adaptable standards that drive meaningful student outcomes.

Accreditation should not be an obstacle institutions work around. It should be the process that makes them better, more honest about who they are, and more effective for their students.

BUILT TO SOLVE A REAL PROBLEM
Postsecondary institutions in Puerto Rico deserve an accreditor that understands them. One that knows the DEPR regulatory framework, operates in both Spanish and English without friction, and does not impose standards designed for a different context as if they were universal.
The ED Council was founded on that conviction. Being the first Puerto Rican postsecondary accreditor is not just a historical milestone. It is the reason we do things differently.

A clear process with no surprises, from day one
The biggest fear institutions face when starting an accreditation process is not the work. It is uncertainty. Our process eliminates that uncertainty with clarity at every stage.
Institutional assessment
We evaluate the institution's real starting point against the applicable accreditor's standards: concrete strengths, gaps, and risks.
Personalized action plan
We design a concrete plan: what needs to happen, in what order, with what resources, and when. Adapted to the institution's real capacity.
Active accompaniment
We work alongside the institutional team on evidence, policies, and documentation. We do not send reports from outside. We are present.
Evaluation preparation
Final review, team preparation for the peer evaluation visit, and support through the presentation to the accrediting body.
Post-accreditation support
Accredited institutions engage in annual monitoring and periodic reassessment to ensure sustained compliance and continuous improvement of educational standards.
VALUES IN ACTION
We live our values through transparency, trust, and genuine collaboration - supporting institutions with adaptability and purpose-driven impact.
Transparency
Clear communication and open processes at every step of the way.
Real Impact
We measure success by one thing: meaningful outcomes for students and institutions.
Collaboration
Built on trust, equity, and shared goals. We grow alongside the institutions we serve.
Adaptability
We meet institutions where they are, adapting to diverse models and local contexts.
